Dana White thinking about Jon Jones facing Anthony Johnson when he returns

If Jon Jones wants to get back to the UFC light heavyweight title, he might have to go through the most dangerous fighter the division has ever seen.

UFC president Dana White revealed on Tuesday during an appearance on "UFC Unfiltered" that he's currently contemplating a matchup between Jones and Anthony "Rumble" Johnson to determine the No. 1 contender at 205 pounds.

The two fighters were supposed to originally square off last May, but Jones ended up suspended from the promotion after a hit-and-run accident ended with him in jail.

Now following Johnson's latest victory — a 13-second drubbing of former title contender Glover Teixeira — White says he likes the idea of Jones facing "Rumble" with the winner getting a title shot.

"You know what, I'm in a weird place. We saw that fight (Cormier vs. Johnson) and it was a great fight, I've still got to talk to Joe Silva and see what he thinks, but I'm thinking maybe we do Anthony Johnson versus Jon Jones to see who gets to fight Daniel Cormier," White revealed.

Johnson and Cormier have already stated publicly that they want to fight each other and both are trying to move past Jones, who is currently on temporary suspension following a positive drug test ahead of his last scheduled bout at UFC 200.

White has stated publicly that Jones may not end up facing a serious sanction for that positive drug test, but his fate has yet to be decided.

USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency) still has to deal with Jones and the embattled former champion also has to face the Nevada State Athletic Commission before he could be cleared to return to action.

In other words, there are still quite a few hurdles to jump before Johnson vs. Jones could take place, but it seems White is on board with the idea to finally pit the two fighters against each other in the Octagon.
