Ian McCall vs. Neil Seery scrapped from UFC Fight Night in Belfast
Ian McCall just can't seem to escape fights falling apart just hours before he's supposed to step inside the Octagon.
McCall was scheduled to face Neil Seery on Saturday in Belfast, Northern Ireland but the veteran flyweight came down with an illness that forced UFC officials to pull him from the card.
"On the advice of physicians, and with the athlete’s health and safety in mind, UFC has removed Ian McCall from his bout tomorrow night against Neil Seery at UFC Fight Night: Mousasi vs. Hall 2 in Belfast, Northern Ireland due to illness," UFC officials said in a statement on Friday.
"UFC Fight Night: Mousasi vs. Hall 2 will proceed with 13 bouts. Seery will serve as a backup in the event a flyweight from the card cannot compete."
This serves as the third straight fight cancellation for McCall after Justin Scoggins failed to make weight for their bout in July and then Ray Borg fell ill ahead of their bout at UFC 203 in September.
Now it's McCall who has fallen ill and the UFC has pulled him from the card.
It's a particularly heartbreaking twist for Seery as well as the native Irishman was set to retire after the fight with McCall and now he won't get that chance on Saturday night.
