Jimi Manuwa crushes Ovince Saint Preux with highlight-reel KO
Jimi Manuwa has a new knockout to add to his highlight reel.
The British light heavyweight showed off some ridiculous power as he crushed Ovince Saint Preux with a second round knockout at UFC 204 in England on Saturday night.
It was a huge win for Manuwa as he returned to action for the first time in over a year after suffering a brutal knockout at the hands of Anthony "Rumble" Johnson in his last fight.
Injuries sidelined Manuwa from competing earlier in 2015, so getting a victory over Saint Preux was paramount if he wanted to climb back up the top 10 rankings.
While Manuwa is best known for his striking, he got engaged in a grappling battle with Saint Preux early and it nearly backfired on him. Saint Preux ended up with the takedown and after avoiding a guillotine attempt from Manuwa, he started looking to finish the fight while taking his opponent's back.
Saint Preux stayed very active while outgrappling Manuwa on the mat, but to his credit, the Brit stayed calm and avoided danger until the round came to an end.
As soon as the second round started, Manuwa took complete control as he started to batter Saint Preux to the body and just picking him apart on the feet.
Saint Preux began to slow down and Manuwa took full advantage with a blistering striking game that landed with accuracy and power.
Finally, Manuwa trapped Saint Preux against the cage and unloaded a big right hand that wobbled the former University of Tennessee football player. The next punch was a left hook that absolutely leveled Saint Preux and he crumbled to the mat in a heap as the referee rushed in to stop the fight before he could take anymore damage.
It was an incredible knockout for Manuwa, who picks up a very important win over a top 10 opponent while doing it all in front of his home country crowd.
