Roy Nelson meets Antonio 'Bigfoot' Silva at UFC Fight Night in Brazil
A heavyweight matchup with a knockout written all over it has been added to the UFC Fight Night card in Brazil as Roy Nelson faces Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva on September 24.
UFC officials confirmed the new matchup on Thursday.
Nelson will look to bounce back from a disappointing result in his last fight where he dropped a split decision to Derrick Lewis in a very close, controversial fight from July.
Nelson has gone just 1-4 over his past five fights but the heavy-handed former "Ultimate Fighter" winner remains one of the most popular and most dangerous one-punch knockout strikers in the heavyweight division.
Silva finds himself in similar dire circumstances after posting an identical 1-4 record over his last five fights inside the Octagon.
Most recently, Silva suffered a brutal 16-second knockout courtesy of Stefan Struve, but the former title contender will get another shot at redemption when he fights in September.
Nelson vs. Silva is the latest addition to the growing card airing on FS1 from Brasilia, Brazil with Cris "Cyborg" Justino headlining the event against Lina Lansberg in a special 140-pound catchweight fight.
