Published Mar. 21, 2017 2:39 p.m. ET

Former two-time welterweight title contender Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson is resting and recovering after undergoing knee surgery this week in South Carolina.

Thompson went under the knife to repair damage to the meniscus in his knee following his most recent outing against Tyron Woodley at UFC 209.

The veteran contender posted a video following his surgery while still clearly feeling the effects of the anesthesia but said that the operation was "super successful".

According to Thompson's management team speaking to FOX Sports on Tuesday, the former kickboxer turned mixed martial artist won't be out of action very long following the routine knee surgery.

Several weeks of rest and recovery are expected before Thompson can get back to his workout routines and then he can begin looking towards booking his next fight.

There's no exact timeline for Thompson's next fight, but he's undoubtedly looking to get booked in another high-profile matchup that will bring him one step closer towards another shot at UFC gold.
