Detroit Red Wings defenseman Kyle Quincey took another step in his bid to recover from an ankle injury on Thursday.

Quincey was an active participant in practice, marking the first time he's been so since undergoing surgery on Nov. 14. The 30-year-old Ontario native, who was expected to be sidelined 8-to-12 weeks, admitted that he's seen progress in his recovery.

Quincey, who had skated in the team's optional practice on Wednesday, has scored one goal and set up two others in just seven games prior to the surgery. He has collected 27 tallies and 105 assists in 455 career contests with the Los Angeles Kings, Colorado Avalanche and Red Wings.

"It feels like I’m back in the fold and just seeing your name on the roster for practice was exciting. The stamina is not where it was when I left but it’s going to come back. Just feeling the puck, making passes, I felt real good to be out there again."
