FOX Sports Carolinas to offer expanded coverage for Hurricanes' season opener

FOX Sports Carolinas will offer expanded coverage on its opening night telecast of the Carolina Hurricanes' 2015-16 NHL regular season.

The team will open the season on the road against the Nashville Predators on Thursday, Oct. 8. The voice of the Hurricanes, John Forslund, will call the game, alongside analyst Tripp Tracy. Additionally, Michelle McMahon will make her FOX Sports Carolinas debut as the rinkside reporter.

Expanded coverage on FOX Sports Carolinas begins at 7 p.m. ET with a special one-hour edition of the Hurricanes LIVE! pregame show. Hosted by FOX Sports' Jerome Jurenovich, alongside analyst Shane Willis, the studio show will feature:

-- Joint segments with the announcing team for Predators games on FOX Sports Tennessee previewing the opening game, the upcoming season and major storylines for both teams.

-- A special feature on the Hurricanes' "True Defenders" military ticket program with defensemen Justin Faulk, John-Michael Liles and Carolina newcomer James Wisniewski.

-- A flashback to the opening game of the Hurricanes' Stanley Cup season from 2005-06, a game-by-game segment that will continue prior to each game this season.

-- A recap of offseason moves, including the acquisitions of forward Kris Versteeg and goalie Eddie Lack.

-- Live analysis from Tracy alongside FOX Sports Tennessee analysts Stu Grimson and Terry Crisp on the concourse at Bridgestone Arena.

Jurenovich and Willis will also provide highlights and analysis live from the studio during intermissions. Immediately following the game, the Hurricanes LIVE! postgame show will conclude FOX Sports Carolinas' opening night coverage.

This season, as part of the FOX Sports Selfie Showcase, viewers can submit fan photos for a chance to appear in commercials that will be televised during Hurricanes games on FOX Sports Carolinas. Details on how where to upload photos for consideration can be found here.

FOX Sports Carolinas and FOX Sports Southeast will combine to televise 81 Hurricanes regular-season games this season. Hurricanes telecasts on FOX Sports Carolinas and FOX Sports Southeast will reach more than 5 million households throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama. 70 games will be televised on FOX Sports Carolinas, while 11 games will be seen on FOX Sports Southeast, formerly known as SportSouth.
