Published Oct. 10, 2015 9:13 a.m. ET

Nico Rosberg earned his 18th career pole in his qualifying attempt for the Russian Grand Prix at Sochi Autodrom.

Rosberg and Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton will start on the front row for the second consecutive race, as Williams Racing driver Valtteri Bottas will start behind them in third.

This is the third pole of the season for Rosberg.

Carlos Sainz was the only driver who did not take time in qualifying, after a crash in FP3 resulted in being airlifted to a local hospital. Sainz has no major injuries, but will be held in the hospital overnight for further evaluation.
