Achor leads Samford past Furman 84-77 and into SoCon title game
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Achor Achor finished with 28 points and 14 rebounds on Sunday to propel Samford past Furman 84-77 and into the championship game of the Southern Conference Tournament.
The top-seeded Bulldogs (28-5) will face either East Tennessee State or Chattanooga in Monday's title game.
Achor sank 12 of 15 shots with a 3-pointer and blocked three shots on the way to his third double-double this season for Samford. Jaden Campbell hit all seven of his free throws and scored 14. Rylan Jones pitched in with 11 points, six assists, four rebounds and three steals.
JP Pegues totaled 22 points and five assists to pace the fifth-seeded Paladins (17-16). Carter Whitt came off the bench to hit 4 of 5 from 3-point range and score 20. Marcus Foster added 12 points.
