Bladen's late layup lifts Norfolk State past Delaware State 65-64

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Tyrel Bladen's layup with two seconds left lifted Norfolk State to a 65-64 win over Delaware State on Saturday night.

Jamarii Thomas scored 25 points, shooting 6 for 16 (4 for 6 from 3-point range) and 9 of 10 from the free throw line for the Spartans (15-8, 5-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). Bladen added 10 points while shooting 5 of 7 from the field, and he also had five rebounds. Jaylani Darden was 3 of 4 shooting and 3 of 4 from the free throw line to finish with 10 points.

Deywilk Tavarez led the way for the Hornets (10-12, 3-3) with 20 points. Martez Robinson added 13 points and seven rebounds for Delaware State. Jevin Muniz also had 12 points, five assists and two steals.

Both teams next play Monday. Norfolk State visits Maryland-Eastern Shore and Delaware Statesquares off against Howard at home.
