Charlotte holds on for 75-71 win over Western Kentucky in OT

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Jahmir Young scored five of his 24 points in overtime to lead Charlotte to a 75-71 win over Western Kentucky on Saturday.

Milos Supica made a pair of free throws with 3:07 remaining in the extra period and Charlotte (5-4, 1-1 Conference USA) led the rest of the way. Supica also made a layup to even the contest at 64 with 1:14 remaining to force overtime.

Young hit 5 of 6 foul shots in overtime and finished with seven rebounds and seven assists. Jordan Shepherd added 15 points for Charlotte. Supica had 12 points and seven rebounds. Jhery Matos had 10 points.

Taveion Hollingsworth had 23 points and six rebounds for the Hilltoppers (8-3, 1-1), whose six-game winning streak was broken. Charles Bassey added 11 points and Josh Anderson had 10.

The 49ers leveled the season series against the Hilltoppers with the win. W. Kentucky defeated Charlotte 67-63 on Friday.
