Dia scores 17, Belmont knocks off Illinois State 67-60
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Malik Dia had 17 points in Belmont's 67-60 victory against Illinois State on Wednesday night.
Dia also contributed six rebounds for the Bruins (11-5, 4-1 Missouri Valley Conference). Cade Tyson scored 16 points, shooting 4 for 7 (2 for 3 from 3-point range) and 6 of 6 from the free throw line. Jayce Willingham was 4 of 7 shooting, including 1 for 3 from 3-point range, and went 0 for 3 from the line to finish with nine points.
Jordan Davis led the way for the Redbirds (8-8, 2-3) with 18 points, nine rebounds and three steals. Kendall Lewis added 13 points for Illinois State. In addition, Myles Foster had 12 points, nine rebounds, two steals and two blocks.
Dia's 3-pointer with 10:12 remaining in the second half gave Belmont the lead for good at 50-48.
