Hunter's 30 points send Texas past Oklahoma 94-80 in Big 12 regular season finale
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Tyrese Hunter scored a career-high 30 points on 9-for-13 shooting, Dylan Disu scored 16 points and Texas beat Oklahoma 94-80 on Saturday to close the Big 12 Conference regular season.
The game marked the final regular season matchup between the two in the Big 12 as they're off to the Southeastern Conference next season.
Reserve Dillon Mitchell scored 14 points and Max Abmas 11 for Texas (20-11, 9-9) which shot a blistering 63.5% (33 for 52) and 95.7% (22 for 23) from the foul line.
Rivaldo Soares tied a career-high 21 points for Oklahoma before leaving the game with 3:13 remaining after teammate Sam Goodwin stepped on his foot on the defensive end. Jalon Moore scored 16 points and Milos Uzan 12 and reserve Le'Tre Darthard 10 for the Sooners (20-11, 8-10).
The Longhorns started the second half with an 8-0 run for their first double-digit lead at 48-35. Disu and Abmas each made layups and Hunter made a pair of foul shots and a mid-range jump shot in the middle of the lane within the first two minutes after halftime.
Hunter went on to score nine of Texas' next 13 points and Kadin Shedrick threw down a dunk with 13:07 remaining to give the Longhorns their largest lead at 63-44.
Texas had a 9-for-11 shooting stretch to start the second half.
Texas never trailed in the first half on its way to a 40-35 lead at intermission after posting its biggest lead at 18-10 following Dillon Mitchell's dunk with 9:19 before the break.
The Big 12 Conference Tournament is up next for both teams.
