Miller's 31 lead Wake Forest past Appalachian State 87-76 in NIT

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — Kevin Miller's 31 points led Wake Forest over Appalachian State 87-76 on Wednesday night in the NIT.

Miller shot 9 for 14 (3 for 5 from 3-point range) and 10 of 10 from the free-throw line for the Demon Deacons (21-13). Cameron Hildreth shot 6 of 13 from the field and 6 of 9 from the free-throw line to add 19 points. Efton Reid shot 6 of 9 from the field and 4 of 6 from the free-throw line to finish with 17 points, while adding 12 rebounds.

CJ Huntley finished with 16 points for the Mountaineers (27-7). Terence Harcum added 14 points for Appalachian State. Tre'Von Spillers also had 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Wake Forest took the lead with 17:22 remaining in the first half and did not give it up. Miller led his team in scoring with 14 points in the first half to help put them ahead 36-27 at the break. Miller scored 17 points in the second half.
