Bachmeier leads Boise State to 31-14 victory over New Mexico
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Hank Bachmeier threw three touchdown passes and Boise State rolled to a 31-14 victory over New Mexico on Friday night in a Mountain West Conference opener.
Bachmeier connected with Latrell Caples for an 18-yard score, capping an eight-play 91-yard drive, to give Boise State (1-1) a 7-0 lead 7 seconds into the second quarter. Jonah Dalmas added a 48-yard field goal for a 10-0 lead at the half.
Andrew Simpson blocked a punt deep in Lobos' territory and Deven Wright recovered it for a TD to push the Broncos' advantage to 17-0 midway through the third quarter.
Miles Kendrick completed just 9 of 28 passes for 98 yards for the Lobos — 69 of those coming on a fourth-quarter scoring strike to Geordan Porter.
Bachmeier had TD tosses of 3 yards to George Holani and 4 yards to Caples in the fourth quarter. He finished with 170 yards on 16-of-27 passing with one interception.
Christian Washington capped the scoring with a 100-yard kickoff return for New Mexico.
