Breneman leads Colgate past Lehigh in Patriot League opener
HAMILTON, N.Y. (AP) — Grant Breneman threw a touchdown pass and ran for 119 yards and a score and the Colgate defense did the rest as the Raiders cruised to a 30-3 victory over Lehigh in a Patriot League opener on Saturday.
Breneman opened the scoring with a 9-yard TD run on Colgate's first possession. The two-play, 27-yard drive was set up when Collin Heard intercepted Dante Perri's first pass of the game. The Raiders (1-3, 1-0) pushed their lead to 14-0 on their second possession — scoring on Garrett Oakey's 9-yard run. Dylan Van Dusen pulled the Mountain Hawks (0-4, 0-1) within 14-3 with a 32-yard field goal early in the second quarter, but Jacob Jaworski answered with a 27-yard field and Breneman connected with Myles Bradley for a 20-yard TD to make it 24-3 at halftime. Jaworski added field goals of 34 and 40 yards in the second half.
