Bronson Yoder rushes for 142 yards, 2 TDs as William & Mary holds off Wofford 28-21

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — Bronson Yoder rushed for 142 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winning score with 3:40 left to play, and William & Mary rallied last in a 28-21 victory over Wofford on Saturday night.

Darius Wilson’s 5-yard touchdown run on the final play of the third quarter gave William & Mary (2-1) a 21-14 lead and capped a 12-play, 77-yard drive.

Wofford (2-1) pulled even for a third time when Amari Odom connected with Jack Purdy for a 20-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter. Yoder capped a 12-play, 91-yard drive with a 1-yard run to put the Tribe on top for good. The Terriers turned the ball over on downs on their final possession.

William & Mary used a marathon 16-play drive to cover 79 yards with Malachi Imoh scoring on a 2-yard run for a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter.

Wofford pulled even early in the second quarter on Ryan Ingram's 8-yard touchdown run. The Tribe regained the lead on Yoder's 19-yard touchdown run that was set up after Jonathan Hammond sacked Odom for an 8-yard loss, forcing a fumble that he recovered at the Terriers' 35-yard line.

Wofford knotted the score at 14 when J.T. Smith Jr scored on a 1-yard run with 26 seconds left before halftime.

Wilson completed 18 of 27 passes for 185 yards for the Tribe, adding 41 yards on 14 carries. Yoder did his damage on 21 carries.

Odom completed 15 of 32 passes for 230 yards for the Terriers. Isaiah Scott had six catches for 119 yards.
