Florida State QB Jordan Travis leaves game before halftime, returns for 3rd quarter after injury
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Quarterback Jordan Travis temporarily left No. 4 Florida State’s game against Syracuse with what appeared to be an injury to his left, non-throwing hand or arm on Saturday.
Travis walked back to the locker room late in the second quarter for evaluation. He returned to start the third quarter and added a third touchdown, a 2-yard run as Florida State extended the lead to 24-3.
A redshirt senior, Travis scored on a 2-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and later connected with Keon Coleman on a 58-yard touchdown pass as Florida State took a 17-3 halftime lead.
Travis completed 14 of 23 passes for 186 yards, distributing passes to six receivers, in the first half. He now has 87 combined touchdowns in his Florida State career, extending his school record. Travis also surpassed the 9,000-yard mark for total offense.
This is the latest injury for Travis, who took a hit just before halftime at Boston College on Sept. 16 but returned for the second half. Travis played the following week, helping the Seminoles win at Clemson for the first time since 2013.
None of the injuries have been disclosed by Travis or Florida State coach Mike Norvell.
