Malik Grant's 2 touchdowns help Sacred Heart beat Central Connecticut 31-24

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) — Rob McCoy had one touchdown passing and one rushing, Malik Grant gained 104 yards on the ground with a score, and Sacred Heart beat Central Connecticut 31-24 on Saturday.

Sacred Heart had two scoring drives of 10 or more plays in the fourth quarter to break a tie at 17-all. Grant's go-ahead scoring run of 18 yards capped a 74-yard drive. McCoy's 17-yard connection with Aboraa Kwarteng ended a 90-yard drive for a 31-17 lead.

Elijah Howard scored his second touchdown of the game to pull Central Connecticut within seven points with 1:39 to go. Sacred Heart went four-and-out to leave 34 seconds on the clock. CCSU's drive stalled at the Sacred Heart 27 after completions of 24 and 19 yards.

McCoy was 13 of 18 for 202 yards with an interception. Kwarteng caught four passes for 88 yards for Sacred Heart (2-8, 2-5).

Matt Jenner was intercepted two times for Central Connecticut (3-6, 1-4). Howard gained 119 yards on 14 carries, including a 70-yard touchdown in the second quarter.

Mike-Lee Joseph intercepted a pass in the Blue Devils' end zone for a touchback, and Jaheem Knight made the other interception for Sacred Heart.
