Despite sporting a bottom-25 defense that ranked 23rd-worst in FBS (426.9 yards allowed per game) last season, the Bobcats had more success on offense, ranking 40th in FBS by averaging 421.4 yards per game.
While the Bobcats ranked sixth-worst in FBS in passing defense with 286 passing yards allowed per game last season, it was a different situation on the other side of the ball, as they ranked 22nd-best in FBS (278.1 passing yards per game).

The Bobcats will get the benefit of the third-easiest conference schedule in college football, based on their MAC opponents' combined win total last season (37).
In 2023, the Ohio's schedule will see four games against teams which finished with winning records a year ago, including zero games against teams that racked up nine or more wins and two games against squads that compiled three or fewer wins in 2022.
