Mariners minor leaguer Hogan Windish has 4 homers, 9 RBIs for Arkansas at Springfield
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — Hogan Windish, a 25-year-old prospect in the Seattle Mariners' minor league system, had four homers and nine RBIs for the Double-A Arkansas Travelers in a 9-4 win at the Springfield Cardinals in the Texas League on Tuesday night.
Windish became only the second professional to drive in all nine of his team's runs in a game since RBIs became an official statistic in 1920. Mike Greenwell of the Boston Red Sox had nine RBIs in a 10-inning win at Seattle on Sept. 2, 1996.
Windish walked in the first inning, hit a grand slam to left-center in the third off Edwin Nuñez for a 4-1 lead, hit two-run homers to right-center in the fifth against Wilfredo Pereira and in the seventh off Benito Garcia, and added a solo homer to center in the ninth against Leonardo Taveras.
A second baseman, first baseman and left fielder selected by the Mariners from UNC Greensboro in the seventh round in 2022, Windish entered with three homers in 58 games for the Travelers this season. He raised his average from .205 to .221 and has 28 RBIs.
He had not homered since May 21 and had gone deep just once since homering twice on April 9.
Windish hit .270 with 22 homers and 84 RBIs last year at High-A Everett.

This story has been corrected to show that Windish became only the second professional to drive in all nine of his team’s runs in a game rather than only the second pro with nine RBIs in a game.
