LEVERKUSEN, Germany (AP) — Bundesliga champion Bayer Leverkusen signed French forward Martin Terrier from Rennes on Thursday.

The 27-year-old Terrier signed a contract through June 2029, the German club announced.

Terrier made 202 French league appearances for Lille, Strasburg, Lyon and Rennes.

“In Martin Terrier we’ve gained a dangerous, fast and intelligent attacker. He will give new and attractive facets to our offensive game,” Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes said. “Martin is a strong finisher and can be deployed flexibly – a good footballer whose profile fits our team perfectly. We’re delighted that he has chosen us.”

Leverkusen was reportedly paying Rennes 20 million euros ($22 million) for the player.

Terrier was to take part in his first training session with his new teammates on Friday.

He is the German champion’s second signing from Rennes this offseason after 19-year-old French center back Jeanuel Belocian. The club also signed 16-year-old Italian defender Andrea Natali from Barcelona’s youth setup, and 27-year-old Spanish midfielder Aleix García from Girona.
