Reijnders 'didn't have to think twice' before joining Milan from AZ Alkmaar
MILAN (AP) — Netherlands midfielder Tijjani Reijnders said he jumped at the chance to join AC Milan after completing a transfer from AZ Alkmaar on Wednesday.
Milan has reportedly paid a fee of 20 million euros ($22.4 million) for Reijnders, who has signed a five-year deal at the Serie A club.
Milan also recently signed Christian Pulisic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea.
“I’m very excited, very happy to be here,” Reijnders said. “Also very proud to be part of this big club. When my agent told me ‘AC Milan is interested in you,’ I was very excited, very happy and I was like ‘Wow, such a big club is interested in me.’
“So the choice for me was very easy, I didn’t have to think twice about this decision.”
The 24-year-old Reijnders received his first senior international call-up in May, for the Netherlands’ Nations League Final Four campaign, but has yet to make his debut.
