BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) — Natasha Howard had her first double-double of the season, Breanna Stewart scored 19 points, and the Seattle Storm beat the Connecticut Sun 95-72 on Sunday for their eighth straight win.

Howard posted season highs with 12 points and 11 rebounds. A first-team all-WNBA selection and defensive player of year in 2019, Howard went into the game averaging 4.7 points and 5.6 rebounds after averaging 18.1 points and 8.2 rebounds last season when Stewart was out recovering from a torn Achilles tendon.

Seattle (10-1), off to its best start in franchise history, never trailed and led by as many as 27 points. The Storm shot 56.9% from the field and hit 13 of 23 (56.5) from 3-point range.

Jasmine Thomas scored 17 points, DeWanna Bonner added 13 and Brionna Jones had 12 points and 11 rebounds for Connecticut (4-7). The Sun had their three-game win streak snapped.

WINGS 95, MERCURY 89

Arike Ogunbowale scored a season-high 33 points and had a late steal to help the Wings beat the Mercury and snap a three-game skid.

Ogunbowale made 6 of 7 from 3-point range and had her sixth career game with 30-plus points. Allisha Gray added 20 points and Marina Mabrey scored a career-high 17 for the Wings.

Brittney Griner’s short jumper with 2:59 to play trimmed the Mercury’s deficit to 80-79 but Ogunbowale answered with a three-point play and Mabrey added a 3-pointer to make it a seven-point game a minute later. Skylar Diggins-Smith sandwiched a pair of 3s for Phoenix around a pull-up jumper by Ogunbowale but Mabry made a layup and, after Ogunbowale’s steal, Gray made another to make it 92-85 with 23.3 seconds to go.

Griner led Phoenix with 29 points and Diggins-Smith scored 20. Diana Taurasi returned after missing three games with a lower back injury. She had 14 points, nine rebounds and five assists in 27 minutes.

SKY 92, DREAM 67

Cheyenne Parker scored 17 points and the Chicago Sky cruised to a win over Atlanta, sending the Dream to their eighth consecutive loss.

Courtney Vandersloot and Allie Quigley scored 14 points apiece and Kahleah Copper added 11 for Chicago (7-4).

The Sky used a 15-2 run to take the lead for good and make it 25-14 when Sydney Colson hit two free throws about a minute into the second quarter. They made 37 of 64 (57.8%) from the field, 7 of 14 from behind the arc, and hit 11 of 12 from the foul line.

Courtney Williams had 15 points, Monique Billings scored 12 and Betnijah Laney added 10 for Atlanta (2-9).
