Ari Sterling def. Samir Singh
Sixteen-year veteran Ari Sterling put on a show during his WWE debut in a collision with one of the longest-tenured staples of the purple brand, Samir Singh.
Sterling, the self-proclaimed “reckless daredevil,” immediately lived up to his moniker when he moonsaulted from the inside of the middle rope to elevate himself over the top rope and flatten Samir on the ringside floor.
Singh nearly stole the win with a rollup attempt, but Sterling kicked out and got back on the attack by countering a tornado DDT attempt and planting his foe with a unique “front-flip face slam” to earn the win.
August Grey & Ikemen Jiro def. Tony Nese & Ariya Daivari
Coming off a rough loss to Ever-Rise the week prior, Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari marched to the squared circle in a foul mood, especially since they had to compete against a pair of 205 Live rookies: long-term rival August Grey and the debuting Ikemen Jiro.
According to Grey, Ikemen translates to “handsome.” And due to Jiro’s belief that handsome men wear jackets, he wears his yellow jacket while competing.
Jiro seemed to throw his foes off their game plan by constantly bounding about the ring and flaunting his jacket, but The Premier Athlete and The Persian Lion briefly regained control by isolating The Life of the Party from his partner and making several timely tags.
During a four-man brawl, however, Jiro blistered Nese with palm strikes and a picture-perfect Swanton Bomb. Moments later, Jiro claimed the victory by tattooing the former Cruiserweight Champion with a pinpoint kick to the face.
