Dolph Ziggler def. Bron Breakker to retain NXT Title
Fresh off inducting his uncle and father into the WWE Hall of Fame, Bron Breakker burst onto NXT Stand & Deliver armed with a chainsaw and the family’s signature bark. The defiant Dolph Ziggler came in with his usual swagger, knowing he had Robert Roode and plenty of experience on his side.
Breakker was in control early, as he imposed his will with a series of overhead suplexes that had Ziggler out of breath and nearly out of time. Sensing the predicament, Roode grabbed the leg of the challenger and was ejected from ringside. As Breakker went to hunt him down, The Showoff used the opportunity to remove the padding from a middle turnbuckle.
As soon as the door opened, Ziggler seized his opportunity with a neckbreaker. The NXT Champion kept the challenger at arm’s length for a long stretch, but the NXT 2.0 prodigy came roaring back.
The challenger was undeterred, and a crushing Spear seemed to finish the champion, but Ziggler showed why his long history of success is no accident. One more Spear from Breakker teed up a press and slam, but the dismissed Roode reentered the scene to save his teammate. Breakker launched himself head-over-heels to wipe out The Dirty Dawgs at ringside but was met with a Famouser and Zig Zag in quick succession when he rolled back into the ring, though he somehow kicked out.
Even after receiving a skyscraping elbow drop from Ziggler, Breakker kept marching on to the shock of The Showoff. When Breakker went for one more signature press, Ziggler dug into his bag of tricks and raked the challenger’s eyes before sending him flying into the exposed turnbuckle. One last Superkick planted Breakker on the mat, and NXT 2.0 remained in the dirty hands of Dolph Ziggler.
