Noam Dar challenges Mark Coffey in rematch for NXT UK Heritage Cup
Three incredible, high-stakes contests highlight a can’t-miss episode of NXT UK, as Noam Dar gets his rematch for the NXT UK Heritage Cup against Mark Coffey, Oliver Carter looks to continue his upstart journey in the NXT UK Championship Tournament when he clashes with Trent Seven, and Tyler Bate tries to outlast Joe Coffey in the other tournament semifinal.
There are dramatic, last-second victories and then there’s what Mark Coffey accomplished against Dar last month. With the bout in the final round and tied at one fall apiece, The Scottish Supernova seemed perfectly happy to try to run out the clock and retain his title via draw, but Mark finally corralled his smaller foe and pulverized him to get the decisive pinfall with less than 20 seconds to go.
The win results in an emotional celebration for The Coffey Brothers, Sha Samuels going into debt, and now a rematch for the trophy. Having successfully defended the NXT UK Heritage Cup four times before losing it to Coffey, Dar appears right at home when competing for the trophy, though Mark seems certain to push himself to do anything to retain the championship he has coveted for so long.
Plus, Bate attempts to continue his quest to become NXT UK Champion for the first time since he lost it to Butch on May 20, 2017, at NXT TakeOver: Chicago. Doing so would make him the first multi-time NXT UK Champion, but getting past Joe Coffey certainly won’t be easy.
Joe himself has competed in several grueling NXT UK Title bouts, pushing Butch and later Gunther to the limit in a pair of instant classics, though he has thus far fallen short in his bid to win the big one.
And in the other semifinal, Seven will look to take advantage of an injury to Carter. In fact, The Don gleefully admitted as such during a backstage standoff last week.
With Carter still hurting thanks to an attack from Die Familie, can he dig down deep to get past the dastardly Seven?
