RETRIBUTION signed with WWE and bulldozed over The Hurt Business
As Monday Night Raw began, it was revealed that the five core members of RETRIBUTION have signed with WWE. They rushed the ring to make it clear that they are now here to wreak havoc whenever and wherever they please, as they seek to destroy WWE from within.
However, RETRIBUTION would not have to wait long for their first confrontation as WWE Superstars, as The Hurt Business arrived to welcome the masked vigilantes to Raw. But United States Champion Bobby Lashley, MVP, Shelton Benjamin & Cedric Alexander were quickly overwhelmed, as more masked members RETRIBUTION swarmed the ring and left them down.
Andrade & Angel Garza def. Humberto Carrillo & Dominik Mysterio and Seth Rollins & Murphy to earn a Raw Tag Team Championship Match at Clash of Champions
In a fast and furious Triple Threat Tag Team Match to determine Raw Tag Team Champions The Street Profits’ challengers this Sunday at WWE Clash of Champions, Dominik Mysterio & Humberto Carrillo looked to be flying high as Dominik sought to chase after his first WWE title. But the tides turned when Andrade & Angel Garza, who were out to prove they do not need Zelina Vega in their corner to succeed, began to take control. Seth Rollins abandoned his disciple Murphy in the middle of the bout, saying he had more important matters to tend to. That left Murphy at the mercy of Andrade & Garza, who put him away quickly to earn the title opportunity.
“The Kevin Owens Show” broke down as Braun Strowman and Dabba-Kato butted heads and Aleister Black ambushed Owens
Willing to put their long-standing differences aside, temporarily at least, Kevin Owens and Shane-O-Mac promoted the battle of behemoths between Braun Strowman and Dabba-Kato on Raw Underground during the latest “KO Show.” After his previous encounter with Dabba-Kato in Raw Underground, KO was none too pleased when Shane brought Dabba-Kato to the ring. He warned the big man that their time to battle would come, but for now, Braun Strowman awaited. The Monster Among Men arrived to confront his opponent, but Shane-O-Mac kept them apart, seeking to protect the huge Raw Underground fight. That would not be the end of the show, as Aleister Black ambushed Kevin Owens, ruthlessly attacking KO as McMahon tried to keep the two behemoths separated.
Randy Orton returned and kicked Keith Lee in the skull
Keith Lee set out to earn himself a potential WWE Championship Match with Drew McIntyre at Clash of Champions. The Limitless One’s night did not end in glory, though, as Randy Orton, whose status for this Sunday was previously in question, returned just after McIntyre dropped Lee with a Claymore. The Viper battered McIntyre with a chair and smashed it into the previously fractured jaw of the WWE Champion before kicking Lee in the skull.
After the damage was done, The Viper walked back to the ambulance by the WWE ThunderDome’s entrance, vowing on Sunday that McIntyre would be leaving in it as Orton rings in his 14th World Championship reign.
Zelina Vega def. Mickie James to earn a Raw Women’s Title Match at WWE Clash of Champions
Though she came up short against Raw Women’s Champion Asuka last week, Mickie James found herself with the opportunity to earn another title opportunity. But standing in her way was Zelina Vega, who was looking to prove herself after slapping the champion last week. James put up a valiant effort once again, but Vega was determined to show that she has what it takes and put the veteran down with a devastating backstabber to set up her title showdown with The Empress of Tomorrow.
A shark interfered in the 24/7 Title chase
R-Truth was attempting to enjoy a day at the beach with Little Jimmy. Little did he know that Akira Tozawa was awaiting him in the surf with a referee. Little did they know that a shark was lurking in the water nearby. R-Truth made it back to the sand with his title, but the shreds of his ninja gear washing up in the tide, Tozawa did not escape unharmed.
Apollo Crews def. Cedric Alexander
After Cedric Alexander turned his back on Apollo Crews and Ricochet last week, Crews was out for payback on his former friend. Alexander may have been a little preoccupied at ringside with Ricochet, got distracted and allowed Crews to roll him up for the three-count. After the bell, The Hurt Business attacked Crews and Ricochet, with Lashley putting Crews in the Hurt Lock, perhaps sending him a message ahead of their United States Championship Match this Sunday at Clash of Champions.
Dolph Ziggler def. Arturo Ruas in Raw Underground
In the first Raw Underground battle of the night, Dolph Ziggler battled Brazilian brawler Arturo Ruas – a showdown between two grapplers with supreme mat-wrestling ability. Ruas had Ziggler on the verge of tapping out to a kneebar, until The Showoff clawed at the Brazilian’s beard and mouth. Ziggler then locked on a sleeper hold and sank his hooks in for a victory.
Seth Rollins seemingly drove a wedge between the Mysterio family
The Monday Night Messiah arrived on Monday Night Raw to continue his torment of the Mysterio family, this time by calling Dominik’s parentage into question. Having been through this already, the Mysterios were not going to fall for Rollins’ games again. However, Rollins then turned his attention to Rey’s daughter Aalyah, who was seen comforting The Monday Night Messiah’s disciple Murphy after the Steel Cage Match last week. Mysterio attempted to keep Rollins from talking about his daughter, but he inadvertently angered Aalyah, causing his daughter to storm off.
Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler def. Natalya & Lana
WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler made quick work of Natalya & Lana, with The Queen of Spades forcing Lana to tap out to the Kirifuda Clutch. The champions then turned their attention toward their challengers this Sunday, The Riott Squad, who were at commentary. Nia Jax attempted to drive Liv Morgan through the announcers’ table, but she was thwarted by Ruby Riott. Jax then grabbed The Ravishing Russian, and for the second week in a row, drove her through a table.
Riddick Moss def. Erik in Raw Underground
The second Raw Underground fight of the night featured Erik of The Viking Raiders in an absolute slugfest, but Moss left Shane McMahon’s anything-goes battleground with the knockout win.
Asuka def. Peyton Royce
After a confrontation with Peyton Royce earlier in the night, Asuka taught the Australian a lesson in respect, defeating her with the Asuka Lock. The Raw Women’s Champion came face to face with her challenger this Sunday, Zelina Vega, and sent her scrambling.
Braun Strowman def. Dabba-Kato in Raw Underground
The battle of the behemoths in Raw lived up to its hype, with Braun Strowman and Dabba-Kato throwing down. The Monster Among Men put the first blemish on Dabba-Kato’s record, pummeling the towering bruiser to the point where the referee had to stop the bout.
Chaos reigned in the main event between The Hurt Business and RETRIBUTION
The main event of Monday Night Raw saw the in-ring debut of T-BAR, Mace & Slapjack of RETRIBUTION, as they took on The Hurt Business’ Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin & Cedric Alexander. The vigilantes dominated the Six-Man Tag Team battle until the United States Champion came into the fray and unleashed his fury. Lashley had Slapjack in the Hurt Lock, but T-BAR attacked him from the ring apron, causing the match to be thrown out.
That set off an absolute melee, as RETRIBUTION’s minions swarmed the ring. WWE Champion Drew McIntyre led the Raw roster to the ring to fight off the invaders, setting off a chaotic brawl. But in the midst of the fracas, Randy Orton slithered into the ring and dropped McIntyre with an RKO. Will it be the same scene when they clash for the WWE Title in an Ambulance Match this Sunday at WWE Clash of Champions?
