Amale def. Xia Brookside
Though she scoffed at the idea of being compared to Amale during a backstage interview last week, Xia Brookside would certainly like to have The French Hope’s recent track record.
Despite Brookside’s cries of “You’re not allowed to do that to me,” Amale nevertheless staggered her foe with some impressive mat grappling, a suplex and a hip toss in the early goings.
Brookside took control with a series of stomps across Amale’s back and a snapmare, but Amale somehow recovered from a wicked kick to the face. Back on the attack, Amale landed a boot to the jaw and the Hope Breaker, scoring her fourth win in her last five matches.
Rohan Raja def. Danny Jones
After he and Charlie Dempsey caught an earful from the sinister Teoman last week, Rohan Raja was laser-focused for his clash with Danny Jones.
Jones had Raja back on his heels, but after a mid-match huddle with Die Familie at ringside, Raja began brutalizing his opponent with a menacing backbreaker and a match-clinching Seek and Destroy.
After the bell, Teoman and Raja began putting the boots to the vanquished Jones. And though he briefly hesitated, Dempsey soon followed Teoman’s orders and began stomping on Jones as well.
Isla Dawn attacked NXT UK Women’s Champion Meiko Satomura
NXT UK Women’s Champion Meiko Satomura joined the ring and was honored with a special tribute video that covered her incomparable career, her groundbreaking title win against Kay Lee Ray and several of her grueling title defenses since.
Andy Shepherd presented The Final Boss with flowers on behalf of NXT UK General Manager Johnny Saint, but before Satomura could say more than two words, Isla Dawn interrupted the proceedings, sitting atop the NXT UK stage.
The cackling and disheveled White Witch took issue with not being invited and claimed that she needed her final trophy.
Satomura told Dawn to simply ask for a championship match, but Dawn claimed that she takes what she wants. With that, she booted the titleholder in the face before smelling and stealing the flowers and laughing manically as she exited.
NXT UK Tag Team Champions Moustache Mountain def. Oliver Carter and Ashton Smith
Oliver Carter and Ashton Smith have traveled a long and arduous path for this moment, having teamed together for two-and-a-half years before finally earning an NXT UK Tag Team Championship Match.
Unfortunately for the battle-tested tandem, the biggest bout of their careers was shrouded in controversy thanks to some questionable actions from Trent Seven, who was perhaps frustrated after his Seven Stars Lariat to Smith yielded only a two-count due to Carter interrupting the pinning combination.
Seven himself came up with a clutch pinfall interruption when the challengers landed Ash-Carter, a tandem maneuver that saw Smith hold Bate in place for Carter to jump off the top rope and take him down with a massive cutter.
With Bate and Carter trading savage blows late in the match, The Big Strong Boi clobbered his foe with a kick to the face and a nasty forearm strike, but when Smith placed his foot onto the bottom rope during the pinfall attempt, Seven shoved Smith’s foot back into the ring. The act seemingly occurred out of the sight of both Bate and the official, allowing Moustache Mountain to retain.
