Gabe Kalscheur - Lights it up in conference opener Kalscheur chipped in 23 points (7-13 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 4-5 FT), one rebound, one assist and three steals over 36 minutes during Saturday's 77-62 victory over Baylor. Impact Kalscheur started his second game of the season with Cyclones power forward Aljaz Kunc sidelined due to a broken finger. The fifth-year guard, who started all but one of 35 games last year, went on to match his best scoring performance of the season while also making a season-high seven field goals and five three-pointers. Kalscheur and starting shooting guard Caleb Grill were also the only two Iowa State players to score more than 10 points, and these are now tied for second on the team in points per game (10.7) behind Jaren Holmes (13.5). With Kunc likely to miss some additional time moving forward, expect Kalscheur to start again Wednesday versus Oklahoma.
