Impact The Razorbacks used what looked like an experimental starting lineup in this contest, so don't look too far into the fact that projected starters such as Battle, Davonte Davis and Trevon Brazile all came off the bench. Prospective fantasy managers should get a much better idea of the rotation when the competition level steps up with another exhibition matchup against Purdue on Saturday. Regardless of his final role, however, Battle is off to a strong start to his Arkansas career, where he hopes to continue his high-volume scoring ways. Despite being limited by injuries in each of the last three seasons, Battle has posted averages of 17.9 ppg, 21.4 ppg and 15.0 ppg, all with Temple.

Impact Battle's entry in the portal was expected for a while, as he parted ways with the Temple program at some point in February and missed the Owls' final five games. Before leaving the team, Battle averaged 17.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.9 three-pointers, 1.8 assists and 1.0 steals in 32.2 minutes per game over 27 appearances, and that level of production should make him an appealing commodity in the portal for both major-conference and mid-major schools alike. Battle, who started his career at Butler in 2019-20 before joining Temple a season later, played just seven games in 2021-22 before suffering a season-ending foot fracture, so he could have up to two years of eligibility plus a redshirt to use at his next school, if the NCAA grants him a waiver from the injury-shortened season.

Impact No reason has been given as to why Battle is not part of Temple's basketball program anymore. He had averaged a team-best 17.9 points across the 2022-23 Owls' regular season. Now, they will be expected to participate in the 2023 AAC Tournament without the prospect of their best scorer inching toward a return to help them. As for Battle, he is expected to enter the NCAA's transfer portal as a lucrative option based on his scoring resume.
