High-scoring double-double Shannon accumulated 29 points (9-13 FG, 8-9 3Pt, 3-7 FT), 10 rebounds, three assists and one block over 38 minutes during Friday's 79-70 victory over UCLA.

Impact Shannon backed up a 30-point game against Monmouth with another excellent showing against the Bruins. He continues to make highlights for the Illini and it looks like few will be able to slow him down early in the season.

Impact Shannon didn't even need very long to put up a huge stat line, missing five shots from the field but all came on three-point attempts. If Shannon can maintain his high shooting percentages, as he only scoring 14 during the Nov. 11 win over UMKC, than he could easily be one of the best scorers in the Big 10 and country.

Impact Shannon recorded just over half of his points from the free-throw line during a dominant showing to open the season. Fresh off his transfer from Texas Tech, consistency will be the goal for Shannon if he's to make an impact for the Illini and improve his draft stock.

Standout player for Illini Shannon was the best player for Illinois in their scrimmage against Kansas, Jeff Goodman of Stadium reports.

Impact Shannon is an extremely high upside player for the Illini. He's shown flashes of star qualities on both sides of the ball the last couple seasons with Texas Tech, but has just not been able to put it all together consistently enough to reach that point. There's a good chance that Shannon could lead the Illini in scoring this season and he should enjoy playing in coach Brad Underwood's offense.
