Gulbranson will try to get Oregon State bowl eligible on Friday (Nov. 29) and pull off another upset against Boise State. The junior could again set a personal best against the Broncos whose defense is near the bottom in the country against the pass, allowing an average of 261 yards in the air per game.

Impact This comes as little surprise, as it was reported earlier on Saturday that Gullbranson was expected to be the starter for the Beavers. Now it's official, and he'll get his second start of the 2024 campaign after tossing for 292 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions against San Jose State back in Week 11.

Impact Gulbranson won't start for the Beavers, meaning Oregon State will now go two straight weeks with a new starting quarterback. Who that will be has yet to be announced, but the candidates are Gevani McCoy and Gabarri Johnson.

Impact Gulbranson's first start since 2022 could not put points on the board with the passing game. The yardage was there, but the junior threw a pair of interceptions and was sacked three times. Gulbranson took over for junior Gerald McCoy the previous contest against California (44-7 defeat) on Oct. 26. If Culbranson is under center in the next game against Air Force (Nov. 16), he might have a tougher time throwing the ball against the Falcons defense who are in the top 25 in the country against the pass. On the other hand Air Force defense is at the bottom in the country against the run.

Impact Following a three-game losing streak, the Beavers appear poised to make a change at quarterback, with Gulbranson getting the start over Gevani McCoy. Gulbranson, a redshirt junior, has played in 13 games in his collegiate career, throwing for 1,772 yards, 11 touchdowns and six interceptions.

Named starting quarterback Gulbranson was named the starting quarterback for Oregon's bowl game against Notre Dame on Dec. 29, Brenden Slaughter of Rivals.com reports.

Impact Oregon State lost both DJ Uiagalelei and Aidan Chiles to the transfer portal, resulting in Gulbranson being named starting quarterback. He has attempted only one pass across 2023 so far. But during 2022, Gulbranson successfully surpassed 1,500 scrimmage yards and 10 touchdowns with OSU. He has ample experience being the Beavers' starting quarterback.
