Justin Olson - Lands with Charlotte Olson has announced, via his personal Twitter account, that he will join the 49ers ahead of the 2024 season.

Impact Olson has opted to join the 49ers following a one-year stint with MTSU. The 6-foot-2 redshirt junior. who previously appeared with North Carolina, tallied 43 receptions for 450 yards and one touchdown across 10 games with the Blue Raiders in 2023. Olson is sure to establish a role for himself with Charlotte next season.

Jairus Mack - Strong finish to regular season Mack accrued four receptions (on six targets) for 87 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 48-14 loss against South Florida.

Impact Mack finished the 2023 season well Saturday, highlighted by a 47-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter from Steven Johnson. He finished his first full season with solid numbers, especially given the 49ers' overall struggles in the passing game, as he caught 25 passes (on 42 targets) for 453 yards and two touchdowns in 11 games.

Joachim Bangda - Scores in season finale Bangda compiled 18 carries for 49 yards and one touchdown and reeled in all three targets for 29 yards during Saturday's 48-14 defeat to South Florida.

Impact Bangda finished the 2023 season on a high note, rushing for a season-high 49 yards and by far his most carries of the season, and adding his fourth touchdown of the season. He finished the season with 42 carries for 143 yards and four touchdowns, the vast majority of which came in the final three games of the season with the 49ers' top two running backs out.

Steven Johnson - Throws first career touchdown Johnson was 3-for-6 passing for 67 yards, one touchdown and one interception during Saturday's 48-14 defeat against South Florida.

Impact Johnson saw his first career collegiate action in Saturday's season finale and marked the occasion with a 47-yard touchdown pass to Jarius Mack on his first drive at the helm of the offense. It's far too early to tell, but with disappointing seasons from Jalon Jones and Trexler Ivey, it is not out of the question that Johnson could play a bigger role next season.

Trexler Ivey - Struggles in season finale Ivey completed 13 of 22 passes for 98 yards and two interceptions during Saturday's 48-14 loss versus South Florida.

Impact Ivey did not have a strong end to the season Saturday as he threw two interceptions and failed to throw for 100 yards on 22 attempts. After halftime he was benched for redshirt freshman Steven Johnson. Ivey did not have a good season as he split time with Jalon Jones as he completed 55.2 percent of his passes for 1,263 yards, four touchdowns and ten interceptions, adding three more touchdowns on the ground. Given his poor performance, it would be surprising to see him play a significant role on the 49ers next season.

Terron Kellman - DNP at South Florida Kellman (ankle) did not play during UNC Charlotte's game Saturday at South Florida.

Impact Kellman sat out the last three games of UNC Charlotte's 2023 season. It was a promising one for the freshman running back nonetheless, as he logged 82 carries for 328 yards (four averaged per carry) and one touchdown across his eight matchups.

Jalon Jones - DNP at South Florida Jones (concussion) did not play during UNC Charlotte's game Saturday at South Florida.

Impact Jones finished 2023 having completed 61.5 percent of his passes. However, he logged less than 700 yards and a 2:4 TD:INT ratio. Jones' rushing touchdown tally was also one less than the five he recorded in both 2021 and 2022. At the moment, Jones' transfer to UNC Charlotte has not paid off like he probably hoped. Ideally for Jones, whatever choice he decides to make on his future will help him in the long run.

Impact Hestera sat out UNC Charlotte's last two games of 2023. He finished the year with 29 receptions for 352 yards (12.1 averaged per catch) and three touchdowns. All aforementioned tallies were career highs for Hestera, who should be a promising option if he stays enrolled at UNC Charlotte in 2024.

Impact Byrd sat out all four games of UNC Charlotte's November 2023 schedule. He finished the year with 60 carries for 211 yards (3.5 averaged per carry) across eight games. Byrd's ankle injury limited his 2023 output, which was far worse than his 2021 and 2022 outputs. He will look to bounce back in 2024, which would be his redshirt senior season.

If Byrd and Kellman miss Saturday's game at South Florida, expect Wilson to lead the backfield once again versus a mediocre Bulls' defense.

Impact Ivey saw the vast majority of the work Saturday after Jalon Jones (concussion) left the game in the second quarter. Ivey did not play well though as he completed just 42 percent of his 19 passes for a measly 51 yards. The only upside to his outing was a 12-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter, the 49ers only score of the day. With Jones questionable, Ivey will likely start again Saturday at USF in the regular season finale.
