Shemar Thornton - Not warming up, likely out
Thornton (undisclosed) is unlikely to play Saturday against Texas State, Eric Henry of SBNation.com reports.
Impact
FIU will likely be without one of its best offensive players with Thornton not dressed out for warmups. Bryce Singleton and Randall St. Felix stand to carry the receiving corps against the Bobcats.

Tyrese Chambers - Moves into starting lineup
Chambers has moved into a starting spot on the depth chart for Week 2 versus Texas State, Eric Henry of SBNation.com reports.
Impact
Chambers made the most of his three targets in the opener, turning them into three catches for 67 yards and a touchdown. He will parlay that into a starting role moving forward, which likely begets additional looks.

Shemar Thornton - Not included on depth chart
Thornton (tonsillitis) isn't listed on the depth chart for Week 2 versus Texas State, Eric Henry of SBNation.com reports.
Impact
Thornton looks to be on track for another potential absence Saturday, though there are only 10 players listed on the chart for Saturday. When he is cleared for action, the senior figures to be a major part of the passing attack this season.

Tyrese Chambers - Catches TD
Chambers reeled in three passes for 67 yards and a touchdown against LIU on Thursday.
Impact
Chambers put up good numbers in his last season with Sacred Heart before transferring to FIU, but how he would look with his new team was a total mystery. He still has yet to play FBS competition, but this is not a bad way to begin with a new squad.

Bryce Singleton - Opens season strong
Singleton caught six passes for 149 yards and a touchdown against LIU on Thursday.
Impact
Last season, Singleton had 150 yards and one touchdown all season. He's almost there already! Shemar Thornton (undisclosed) didn't play in this game, which could have led to more targets for Singleton. He was up to the task, though.

Shaun Peterson - Finds end zone
Peterson rushed eight times for 36 yards and a touchdown Thursday against LIU.
Impact
Peterson actually led the Panthers in touches, though the fact the game is a blowout played into that. Top back D'vonte Price only needed five carries to score three touchdowns, after all. Peterson seems like a clear number-two option right now, though.

ROTOWIRE
D'Vonte Price - Does a ton with a few carries
Price only touched the ball five times Thursday against LIU, but he rushed for 165 yards and three touchdowns.
Impact
Talk about efficiency. The Sharks defenders were torn apart by Price. Now, we are talking about Long Island University here. This was a very easy way to ease into the season. Still, numbers like this will draw attention, and rightfully so.

Max Bortenschlager - Throws two TDs
Bortenschlager went 14-for-17 for 266 yards and two touchdowns against LIU on Thursday. He also rushed three times for 12 yards.
Impact
Last year in limited action for FIU, Bortenschlager only completed 45.8 percent of his passes. This was an easy matchup, obviously. Still, this kind of efficiency is encouraging, but we will want to see more.

Shemar Thornton - Unavailable Thursday
Thornton is inactive for Thursday's season-opener against Long Island University due to an undisclosed reason, Eric Henry of SBNation.com reports.
Impact
Thornton was listed as a starter on the team's depth chart that was released Wednesday so it's unclear what may have happened between then and Thursday night's kickoff that forced him out of action. Expect heavier usage from other starters Bryce Singleton and Randall St. Felix with Thornton sidelined.

Thornton is listed as a starter on the team's Week 1 depth chart versus Long Island.
Impact
Thornton missed the entire 2020 season after suffering an injury in fall camp. He finished the 2019 campaign by catching over 50 passes and will hope to build on that in 2021.

Lexington Joseph - Back after broken wrist
Joseph (wrist) is back at practice with no limitations, SB Nation reports.
Impact
Joseph broke his wrist last November and missed the end of the 2020 season. He was the lead dog when Shaun Peterson went down with a knee injury in October, but opened the door for D'Vonte Price. The three of them will likely all get carries this season.

Shaun Peterson - No limitations in fall practice
Peterson (knee) is full-go during fall practices, SB Nation reports.
Impact
Peterson suffered a torn ACL last October, but is fully healed heading into the 2021 campaign. Peterson will look to take back a lot of carries this season from which he missed in 2020. D'Vonte Price and Lexington Joseph are other backs that will be in the rotation this year.

Randall St. Felix - Commits to FIU
St. Felix completed his transfer to Florida International on Monday, Eric Henry of Eric Henry of SBNation.com reports.
Impact
St. Felix ironically saw his role decline over the span of three seasons while at South Florida. He led the team with 679 receiving yards and four touchdowns in 2018 but combined to have just 411 yards and three touchdowns over his final two years. He'll still have two years of eligibility remaining and will look to revive his career as a member of FIU.
