Impact The Wisconsin transfer started the game 4-for-4 in pass attempts and finished for a total, completing 26-of-35 pass attempts for 366 yards in his first start for the Irish. It was the highest one-game total in passing yards for Coan in two years. The senior could be set up for another big game at home against Toledo on Saturday, Sept. 11 in South Bend.

Officially No. 1 QB Coan has officially been named Notre Dame's No. 1 quarterback by head coach Brian Kelly, Pete Sampson of The Athletic reports.

Impact As expected, Coan will lead the Fighting Irish under center in 2021. He beat out Drew Pyne and Tyler Buchner for the role. The graduate transfer accumulated 2,727 yards and 18 touchdowns, while completing 69.6 percent of his passes during his last season at Wisconsin in 2019. He will get a chance for revenge against his former team in Week 4 when they match up at Soldier Field.
