Stars in Big Ten opener Smith gathered in 5 of 6 targets for 83 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 38-7 victory over Michigan State. Impact Smith has been one of college football's best true freshmen on either side of the ball so far this season, and he continued to star in the Buckeyes' conference opener. The 6-foot-3 wideout went untouched on an end-around midway through the second quarter for the first rushing score of his career. He then made two highlight receptions on the Buckeyes' next offensive series, including an acrobatic, one-handed 27-yard reception before hauling in a 17-yard score on another one-handed grab three plays later. Smith has seen fewer targets than senior slot receiver Emeka Egbuka recently, as the latter logged 10 targets against the Spartans. Ohio State's high-scoring offense combined with Smith's stark talent will still make him extremely productive moving forward into Big Ten play. Though, next week's home game against Iowa will pose a much tougher defensive opponent.
