Splitting first-team reps Johnson has been receiving the first snaps through the opening weeks of LSU's spring practices, Brooks Kubena of The Advocate reports.

Impact Though Myles Brennan and TJ Finley are still in the mix and getting some first-team reps, it's noteworthy that Johnson has been first in line to get things started this spring. Johnson notably ended the season by delivering a pair of memorable victories over Florida and Mississippi. "This is going to be an ongoing thing. We've got to let it go throughout camp. All our guys are doing well right now," coach Ed Orgeron said. Look for this competition to continue into the summer, but Johnson and the experienced Brennan might be the top two candidates all things considered.

Impact Both Davis-Price and John Emery have been limited thus far in spring and LSU has had to use receivers at running back for some drills. Davis-Price missed the last game of the season due to injury and appears to still be working his way back to full strength.

Working back from shoulder surgery Emery (shoulder) underwent offseason surgery and is not going through contact portions of spring practice,Brooks Kubena of The New Orleans Advocate reports.

Impact LSU is short on running back depth this spring with Emery and Tyrion Davis-Price (undisclosed) both banged up. Emery has been participating in a non-contact jersey, however, so he is at least able to go through some football activity. It's unclear if Emery will be 100 percent by the end of spring practice but there's no word that his rehab will stretch into fall camp, either.
