Grayson Barnes - Eyeing starting tight end role Barnes has added weight and is eyeing a full-time role at tight end this fall, Eddie Carifio of the DeKalb County Daily Chronicle reports. Impact Barnes was listed as a receiver last fall, but was essentially a tight end who could split out into the slot frequently. He posted a respectable stat line, reeling in 23 catches for 422 yards and five touchdowns. Now, he's in line to be the Huskies' starting tight end in 2024. Barnes reportedly added 15 pounds in preparation for that role, and figures to be used more as a run-blocker as well. That could dampen his receiving numbers in 2024, but the senior has already proved he's a more-than-capable pass-catcher who should still be a factor in Northern Illinois' passing game.
