Impact After injuring his non-throwing shoulder in last Saturday's loss to NIU, Leonard appears to be in line to play Saturday versus Purdue. If the senior does end up playing, he will be looking for a bounce back performance after the upset loss last week.

Injures non-throwing shoulder Leonard injured the posterior labrum on his non-throwing shoulder during Notre Dame's upset loss at the hands of NIU, Pete Nakos of On3.com reports.

Impact Despite the injury, Leonard is expected to suit up this week against Purdue. The quarterback struggled mightily against the Huskies, tossing for 163 yards and two interceptions in the stunning defeat. This will surely be something to monitor for the starting quarterback, but it appears as if Leonard dodged a bullet with the injury and should be good to go against the Boilermakers.

Leonard should have a much better game this Saturday (Sept. 14) against Purdue who allowed 242 yards passing yards per game last season.

Officially QB1 Head coach Marcus Freeman confirmed that Leonard has been working with the first team and is the starting quarterback for the 2024 season, Tyler Horka of On3.com reports.

Impact Leonard being the starting quarterback was already the expectation so far in training camp, but Freeman officially confirmed this notion. The Duke transfer's best collegiate year so far was in 2022, where he logged 3,666 scrimmage yards and 33 touchdowns across 13 games.
