Named starting QB for opener Leavitt was named the starting quarterback for Arizona State's game Saturday against Wyoming, Pete Thamel of ESPN reports.

Impact Leavitt led Arizona State's quarterback battle during the spring, so him being named QB1 is not so surprising. Considering the redshirt freshman's limited experience, which includes 15 completions for 139 yards and two touchdowns, his 2024 output will be challenging to gauge. At minimum, the Sun Devils are hoping for consistent quality, considering their 2023 season consisted of four different QBs.

Impact Leavitt was limited to four games so that he could redshirt his first season of college football. He logged 15 completions and 13 carries for 206 all-purpose yards (139 passing and 67 rushing) and two touchdowns.

Impact Katin Houser will start at quarterback with Noah Kim (undisclosed) still out, but Leavitt is expected to still see some action versus the Huskers. The true freshman has appeared in three games this season and completed 14-of-22 passes for 114 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions, and added 65 rushing yards on 11 attempts.

Competing to be starting QB Leavitt could be Michigan State's starting quarterback Saturday against Nebraska, Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Impact The quarterback position has been a problem for Michigan State in recent weeks, with Noah Kim (undisclosed) injured and Katin Houser ineffective. As a result, Leavitt was inserted under center midway through Saturday's 27-12 loss to Minnesota, completing eight of 12 passes for 73 yards and one touchdown to one interception. Thus, MSU's head coach Harlon Bennett said Monday that QB is "still competition mode" between the latter and Leavitt.
