Mabrey Mettauer - Not competing for starting job Mettauer is not competing against Braedyn Locke and Tyler Van Dyke to be Wisconsin's primary quarterback, Cody Nagel of 247Sports.com reports.

Impact Unsurprisingly, Mettauer has already been eliminated from contention to be Wisconsin's starting quarterback. It will be among more proven options in Locke and Van Dyke, both signal callers who logged at least 750 passing yards during 2023.

Impact Nick Evers enrolling at UConn and Mabrey Mettauer being out of the running leaves two remaining to be Wisconsin's starting quarterback. Compared to Locke, Van Dyke has much more experience, which includes 581 completions for 7,469 yards and 54 touchdowns across his 32 games as a Miami underclassman. Ideally for him, all his experience helps him win the QB job he is clamoring for.

Impact Back during April, Locke was engaged in a four-way competition to be Wisconsin's starting quarterback. But now that the other two QBs (Nick Evers and Mabrey Mettauer) are out of the running, that leaves Locke and Van Dyke to compete in fall camp. Compared to Van Dyke, Locke has experience as Wisconsin's quarterback, having attempted 152 passes for the 2023 Badgers.
