2024 March Madness highlights: Bama stuns 1-seed UNC; UConn, Illinois, Clemson win

How sweet it is.

It was time for some Sweet 16 action as the NCAA Tournament rolled on Thursday. Clemson and Arizona tipped things off, with the surprising 6-seed Tigers moving on with a 77-72 victory. 

Also in the early slate, Tristen Newton and No. 1 seed UConn continued their repeat bid against San Diego State, the team they beat in last year's championship game. The Huskies dominated the second half on the way to an 82-52 victory.

In late action, Alabama stunned 1-seed UNC, 89-87, as the Tar Heels became the first top seed to be bounced from the tournament. 

Meanwhile, 3-seed Illinois shook off a late charge by 2-seed Iowa State to close things out with a 72-69 win.
