2024 March Madness highlights: Houston beats Texas A&M in thriller
The second round of the 2024 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament continued Sunday, and there were many exciting moments throughout the day.
To start the day, No. 2 seed Marquette defeated No. 10 seed Colorado 81-77 to advance to its first Sweet 16 since 2013. It was a late-game thriller as Colorado took the lead twice down the stretch despite trailing the entire first half.
Then, No. 1 seed Purdue had little problem putting away No. 8 seed Utah State defeating the Aggies 106-67 behind Zach Edey's 23 points and 14 rebounds.
Later in the day, Duke cruised to an easy win over James Madison, winning 93-55. The ACC sent its fourth team to the Sweet 16 as Clemson defeated Baylor in a close one, winning 72-64. Alabama won a physical game over Grand Canyon, going on a 10-0 run to end the game for a 72-61 victory.
The defending champs clinched its ticket into the Sweet 16 as UConn dominated Northwestern, winning 75-58.
In arguably the best game of the first two rounds, Houston survived a scare from Texas A&M, winning 100-95 in overtime. The Cougars held a 13-point lead with less than four minutes left before the Aggies hit a game-tying 3-pointer at the buzzer. Houston was able to pull away though in overtime.
Closing the day out, San Diego State put an end to Yale's Cinderella run, winning 85-67. With the win, San Diego State advances to the Sweet 16, where it'll face UConn in a rematch of last year's title game.
