Bowl game highlights: Ohio State falls in Cotton Bowl without Marvin Harrison Jr.

College football's bowl season heats up this weekend, including a handful of big games on Friday.

First up was the Gator Bowl, which featured Dabo Swinney's Clemson squad edging Kentucky in a wild one, 38-35.

Next up, Oregon State — without head coach Jonathan Smith, who bolted for Michigan State — had to face Notre Dame in the Sun Bowl. The Irish were in no mood to play nice, dominating from wire-to-wire in a 40-8 victory.

Also in action, Memphis battled Iowa State in the Liberty Bowl, with the Tigers controlling the action in a 36-26 win.

Finally, the evening ended with the biggest showdown of the day, as Ryan Day's Ohio State Buckeyes took on Missouri in a top-10 matchup in the Cotton Bowl. The Buckeyes played the game without star receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., saw quarterback Devin Brown leave with an injury, and struggled to mount any offense in a 14-3 defeat.
