College Football Playoff highlights: Ohio State dominates Tennessee
The first round of the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff has come to a close.
Ohio State closed out the weekend by continuing the dominance displayed by home teams in the first-ever playoff games held on campus. It took care of No. 9 Tennessee with relative ease, winning 42-17. The win sets up a rematch between No. 8 Ohio State and top-seeded Oregon in the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day. Oregon won the first game by a point in October, setting the stage for one of the most anticipated games of the college football season.
Earlier, No. 5 Texas took down No. 12 Clemson, 38-24. With the win, Texas will face No. 4 Arizona State in the Peach Bowl on New Year's Day. No. 6 Penn State routed No. 11 SMU, 38-10, in Happy Valley. The Nittany Lions will play No. 3 Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl on New Year's Eve.
On Friday, No. 7 Notre Dame kicked off the new era by beating No. 10 Indiana by double digits, 27-17. The Fighting Irish will take on No. 2 Georgia in the Sugar Bowl on New Year's Day.
