College football Week 15 highlights: Clemson, Georgia win walk-off conference titles
Conference championship weekend lived up to the hype.
Three of the four major power conference title games came down to the final plays on Saturday. In the middle of the day, No. 5 Georgia won its third SEC title in four seasons when it took down No. 2 Texas in overtime.
The excitement from that game carried into the nightcap. First, No. 1 Oregon held off No. 3 Penn State's late comeback bid with a clutch interception to win the Big Ten title in its first year as a member of the conference. In the ACC title game, No. 8 SMU came back from a 17-point deficit in the fourth quarter before No. 17 Clemson drained a game-winning field goal at the buzzer.
Kicking off the day, No. 15 Arizona State dismantled No. 16 Iowa State in the Big 12 Championship Game, 45-19.
So, Oregon, Georgia, Arizona State and Clemson, along with Boise State on Friday, have seemingly clinched the first five spots in the College Football Playoff. Let the debate over the next seven spots commence!
