Late caution keeps things competitive
Things were highly competitive all the way to the end in this one, with another caution late in the race.
Closing time
Things came down to the wire in Las Vegas, and multiple drivers gave an all-out effort in the race's final stretch.
Big trouble on the backstretch
A multi-car wreck unfolded during the third and final stage on Lap 195, while Cody Ware went for a spin of his own.
Elsewhere, Carson Hocevar and Ty Gibbs experienced some trouble on pit road.
Kyle Larson wins Stage 2
Kyle Larson came out with the Stage 2 win after some tough racing in the stage's final moments.
Seeing yellow
As Stage 2 continued, chaos ensued for Todd Gilliland, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Shane van Gisbergen once again.
Things turned yellow on Lap 147.
Wheels going wild
Kyle Busch was the latest victim of a rogue wheel in Sunday's race. His right rear wheel came apart and flew off on the restart to bring the caution out once again.
Heating up
Kyle Larson jumped out in front as the second stage got underway, but things were back under caution after Shane van Gisbergen went for a spin around Turn 2.
Austin Cindric wins Stage 1
Austin Cindric won the opening stage, leading over 40 laps en route to the early victory.
Elsewhere, Chase Elliott was sent to the rear of the field for speeding on pit road, while Alex Bowman ran into some trouble on Lap 90 after telling his team he was dealing with a "huge vibration" problem.
Trouble brewing early
The yellow flag came out for the first time on Lap 34 after Chase Briscoe's left rear wheel came off; it was a two-lap penalty. Elsewhere, Ryan Blaney, who went to pit road from 17th place, also had a ton of trouble right out of the gate.
Green!
Joey Logano took the early lead in Las Vegas after opening the race with a side-by-side battle between him and Michael McDowell for the first couple of laps.
Setting the scene
Christopher Bell has raced to the finish line first in the past three Cup races. Can he make it four in a row? Bell is now chasing that elusive streak, with Jimmie Johnson serving as the last driver to win four straight — back in 2007.
"It's hard to do," Bell said about trying to match Johnson’s feat. "I acknowledge that. I'm just kind of in disbelief that I have that opportunity, but I'm looking forward to it."
Bell will have to start from the back of the field, though, after NASCAR penalized the Joe Gibbs Racing driver on Sunday for making changes to his Toyota. Bell had been set to start 13th at Las Vegas Motor Speedway; JGR changed the throttle body on the No. 20 Toyota after qualifying, resulting in Bell forfeiting his starting spot.
Only eight drivers have won four straight Cup races in the modern era of NASCAR that began in 1972. Among those who have accomplished the feat, seven are in NASCAR’s Hall of Fame and six are Cup Series champions. What's more, Bell is the first to win three straight in NASCAR’s Next Gen car, which was introduced in 2022.
Bell (+700) trails Kyle Larson (+350) and William Byron (+650) as Sunday's favorite to win, per DraftKings Sportsbook. Bell sits atop our latest power rankings list, while Byron and Larson check in at second and third, respectively.
Elsewhere, keep an eye out for John Hunter Nemechek, who will hit the track Sunday in a car featuring renowned pop group the Backstreet Boys. The No. 42 car art promotes the eight-time Grammy-nominated band's recently announced residency, "Into The Millennium," at Sphere Las Vegas, which kicks off this summer.
Later, racing fans will get to see how beloved actor Patrick Dempsey — who returned to racing in 2024 in the Porsche Endurance Cup — dealt with making mistakes when competing on the track in the documentary, "Destined To Drive: Patrick Dempsey’s Return To Racing," that debuts after Sunday's race at 7 p.m. ET on FS1.
