Published Mar. 23, 2017 1:29 p.m. ET

FOX Sports Midwest will televise the Cardinals’ 2017 Opening Day pregame ceremony live to fans throughout the region Sunday, April 2. The one-hour special will begin at 6:30 p.m. CT.

The Cardinals’ opener against the Chicago Cubs that night at 7:30 p.m. will be carried exclusively by ESPN as part of Major League Baseball’s national TV package.

Dan McLaughlin and Rick Horton will anchor pregame ceremony coverage from FOX Sports Midwest’s studio in Ballpark Village, while Jim Hayes will report from inside Busch Stadium. The tradition-filled ceremony (#OpeningDaySTL) will include appearances by the Budweiser Clydesdales and Cardinals Hall of Famers and the introduction of the 2017 team.  Cardinals coverage will be preceded by the Blues’ 3 p.m. game vs. the Nashville Predators at Scottrade Center, part of a jam-packed sports day on Clark Street in downtown St. Louis.

The pregame ceremony will also be streamed live on FOX Sports GO, available to customers of participating pay-TV providers.

“Cardinals fans, young and old, understand that Opening Day is a special day in St. Louis," said Dan Farrell, Cardinals vice president of sales and marketing.  “The pregame ceremonies are an important part of the day and we are excited that FOX Sports Midwest will be able to broadcast the ceremonies to our fans throughout Cardinal Nation.”

“Opening Day is one of the marquee events on the St. Louis sports calendar,” said FOX Sports Midwest General Manager and Senior Vice President Jack Donovan. “When ESPN picked up the opener, we began working with the Cardinals to ensure that fans throughout the region will be able to watch the ceremony live Sunday night.”

FOX Sports Midwest, the television home of the Cardinals, will carry the first of its 147 regular-season games Tuesday, April 4.
