Impact Hip inflammation has kept Buxton on the shelf since mid-August, but after several days of running without any issues, he's now been cleared to return to the Twins' lineup for the beginning of their next series against Cincinnati. The 30-year-old outfielder was slashing .237/.338/.661 since the All-Star break before he got hurt, and he'll presumably reclaim his role as Minnesota's primary center fielder once activated.

Impact He was also able to do some defensive drills Monday. Buxton had to be pulled off his rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul after he felt renewed soreness in his right hip during a game on Sept. 4, but he might he might be ready to test things out in game action again soon. It's not clear whether the Twins would ask him to resume a rehab assignment or consider immediately putting him back onto the active roster. Buxton has been shelved since mid-August.
